POTTERS HEADED TO GWL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

AUGUST 6, 2018 - LINCOLN, CA:  In a win or go home game, the Lincoln Potters defeated the Medford Rogues 12-4 to advance to their first ever GWL Championship Series.  The majority of the Potters damage was done by the lower portion of the lineup as the sixth through nine hitters accounted for nine runs and nine hits.

J.C Santini's three run home run in the bottom of the second inning gave the Potters an early lead, a lead that they would never relinquish.  The Potters would score two more times in the third inning to increase their lead to 5-0

After a couple of walks and a balk the Rogues finally got on the scoreboard in the sixth inning. But the Rouges couldn’t keep the momentum around as the Potters answered back with four runs in their half of the inning.  Matt Lopez doubled in a run, which was followed with a Larry Fonseca RBI single and a two run double by Larry Fonseca.

Cole Carder hit a three run homer for the Rogues in the seventh inning to make it 7-4.  As quick as the Rogues were to score, the Potters were even faster to matj the Rouges offensive production as they also scored three times in their half of the inning. Charles Middleton,  Santini and Larry Fonseca each drove in runs.

Starter Josh Frederick allowed only three hits and one run in 5.0 for the win.  Tanner Simpson was given the loss despite not allowing a single earned run.  Tyler Cochran came in and closed the game out, striking out three of the four batters he faced.
