July 7, 2018 - PORTLAND, OR: The Great West League’s Madison Bat Company Player of the Week and Pitchers of the Week, as announced by league commissioner Ken Wilson, are Cole Carder and Blake Hannah. Carder hit .519 (14-27) for the week with 3 HRs and 7 RBIs to become the Player of the Week, while right-hander Hannah had a strong 7-inning outing versus the Lincoln Potters to be named Pitcher of the Week.
Carder, a sophomore from the University of Antelope Valley, is the league's leading hitter, with a .404 average and 21 RBIs in 28 games. A 6-2, 180 pound Medford, Oregon native, Carder also had 4 walks and 4 stolen bases over six games to notch the award.
Hannah, went 7.0 innings on July 3rd against the Potters, allowing only one run on 4 hits and striking out four without allowing a walk. The UC-Davis Aerospace Science and Engineering major has worked in 3 games this season for the Heat, with a 3-0 mark and 0.58 ERA. In 15-1/3 innings on the hill, Hannah has 17 strikeouts and allowed only 7 hits without allowing a free pass. The 6-3, 215 pound Vacaville, California native just completed his junior year at UC-Davis.
