GOLD SOX ANNOUNCE 2018 COACHES

NOVEMBER 11, 2017 - MARYSVILLE, CA:  The Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox have just announced the new coaching staff for the 2018 season at Colusa Casino Stadium. Jeramy Gillen will be the new Field Manager and Brandon Asher will be the Assistant Coach for the Gold Sox. “These guys are overall just great people both on and off the field. They did an amazing job with the Bears last season with little time and limited player housing. We will make sure they get what they need to push for a GWL Championship Title this year with the Gold Sox. We are going to build a roster to win ball games and we expect to compete every night,” said VP/GM Michael Mink.

Gillen grew up in Southern California and graduated from Laguna Hills High School as a 4-time Varsity Letterman and a 4-time All League Player. He attended Saddleback Community College before transferring to Fresno State University to pursue his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education. He is currently working on earning his Master’s Degree in Education. Gillen began coaching at Saddleback Community College in 1997, where he and Hall of Fame Coach Jack Hodges compiled an impressive 164-68 record with 5 playoff berths, 1 Orange Empire Conference Championship, and an earned “Runner-Up” title in the 1998 California State Community College Championships. “I am honored and privileged to be coaching the upcoming 2018 Gold Sox this season! I am excited to be part of the Gold Sox family and continue to build on the success of the rich Gold Sox traditions. Our goal on the field is to come away with a GWL Championship, and by putting the right pieces in place, I believe we have the opportunity to do it. I’m looking forward to a great summer of Gold Sox Baseball,” said Gillen.

Local product, Brandon Asher, was born and raised in the Yuba-Sutter area and graduated from Marysville High School in 1993. He decided to start coaching baseball in order to give back to the community that he grew up in. He has been coaching for over 15 years, and has led River Valley High School in the 2015 season to a Section Runner-Up. In the past 5 years, his overall record is 89-55-1 with 4 consecutive playoff appearances. His baseball philosophy is to “always respect the game and play it the right way;” and he maintains this by making sure his players are well-prepared and ready to play at the next level.
