Bill Speck has a wealth of umpiring experience, both on and off the field. He currently umpires in the PAC 12, the Big West, West Coast Conference, WAC and Mountain West Conference, and has worked two NCAA College World Series in Omaha, as well as 29 NCAA Regionals and NCAA Super Regionals. His umpiring career began in the Pioneer League in 1981. Speck moved up to the Pacific Coast League, working seven seasons in the AAA league.
He is married, has a grown daughter, and operates a landscape business in his hometown of Modesto, California.
